If anyone can….

If anyone can.

It’s so strange, almost surreal in the way I think that in my mind it is two things, two things that are happening and to probably everyone else it seems to be not just unlikely but bloody impossible. I go through everyday doing almost the exact same things. As I do them I make a mental note of how I accomplish the very simple and basic things, if I’m able to do them easier it obviously makes me happy but on some occasions I struggle and I have to think very hard as to why that’s happened, have I eaten something bad for me or could it have been that my attitude, my mental approach was wrong. I’m a strong believer that doing or not doing is 99.9% down to believing in oneself. As I’ve said before simply living with the restrictions that have been forced on me is simply not acceptable, how I’m going to change everything in my life, I don’t know exactly. Becoming healthy and wealthy doesn’t appear to be a feasible option but it can be done and I know that if anyone can do it, it’s me.

Bone broth…“nature’s multivitamin.” ..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

1. Protects Joints

Bone broth is one of world’s best sources of natural collagen, the protein found in vertebrae animals — in their bones, skin, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and bone marrow. As we get older, our joints naturally experience wear and tear, and we become less flexible.

Why does that matter? As we age, cartilage diminishes as it gets attacked by antibodies (age-related degradation of joint cartilage). As bone broth simmers, collagen from the animal parts leaches into the broth and becomes readily absorbable to help restore cartilage.

One of the most valuable components of bone broth is gelatin, which acts like a soft cushion between bones that helps them “glide” without friction. Gelatin also provides us with building blocks that are needed to form and maintain strong bones, helping take pressure off of aging joints and supporting heathy bone mineral density.

Research done by the Department of Nutrition and Sports Nutrition for Athletics at Penn State University found that when athletes supplemented with collagen over the course of 24 weeks, the majority showed significant improvements in joint comfort and a decrease in factors that negatively impacted athletic performance. (3)

2. Good for the Gut

Studies show that gelatin is beneficial for restoring strength of the gut lining and fighting food sensitivities (such as to wheat or dairy), helping with the growth of probiotics (good bacteria) in the gut, and supporting healthy inflammation levels in the digestive tract. A report published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology found that gelatin effectively supports intestinal health and integrity. (4)

Bone broth is easily digested and soothing to the digestive system, unlike many other foods, which can be difficult to fully break down. After all, a food is really only useful if we have the means of absorbing its nutrients.

Studies have found that in individuals with digestive imbalances, serum concentrations of collagen are decreased. (5) Because the amino acids in collagen build the tissue that lines the colon and entire GI tract, supplementing with collagen can support healthy digestive function.

3. Maintains Healthy Skin

Collagen helps form elastin and other compounds within skin that are responsible for maintaining skin’s youthful tone, texture and appearance. Collagen integrity is accredited with helping reduce the visible signs of wrinkles, decreasing puffiness and fighting various other signs of aging. Many people report a decrease in cellulite when consuming foods and supplements containing collagen, since cellulite forms due to a lack of connective tissue, allowing skin to lose its firm tone.

Double-blind, placebo-controlled studies investigating the age-defending properties of collagen have found that 2.5–5 grams of collagen hydrolysate (CH) used among women aged 35–55 once daily for eight weeks supports skin elasticity, skin moisture, transepidermal water loss (dryness) and skin roughness. At the end of only four weeks, those using collagen showed a statistically significant improvement in comparison to those using a placebo with regard to skin moisture and skin evaporation, plus noticeable decreases in signs of accelerated aging, all with little to no side effects. (6)

4. Supports Immune System Function

One of the most remarkable things about bone broth is its gut-supportive benefits, which as described above actually have a holistic effect on the body and support healthy immune system function.

Leaky gut occurs when undigested particles from foods seep through tiny openings in the weakened intestinal lining and enter the bloodstream, where the immune system detects them and becomes hyperactive. This increases inflammation and leads to dysfunctions all over, as the immune system releases high levels of antibodies that cause an autoimmune-like response and attack healthy tissue.

Bone broth is one of the most beneficial foods to consume to restore gut health and therefore support immune system function and healthy inflammation response. Collagen/gelatin and the amino acids proline, glutamine and arginine help seal these openings in the gut lining and support gut integrity. Traditionally made bone broths are believed to support healthy inflammatory response and normal immune system function. (7, 8) Bone broth can even promote healthy sleep, boost energy during the day and support a healthy mood.

5. Boosts Detoxification

Today in the Western world, the average person is exposed to an array of environmental toxins, pesticides, artificial ingredients and chemicals of all sorts. While the human body has its own means of detoxifying itself from heavy metals and other toxic exposures, it often has a hard time keeping up when flooded with an overwhelming amount of chemicals. Bone broth is considered a powerful detoxification agent since it helps the digestive system expel waste and promotes the liver’s ability to remove toxins, helps maintain tissue integrity, and improves the body’s use of antioxidants.

Bone broth contains potassium and glycine, which support both cellular and liver detoxification.

Some of the ways in which bone broth boosts detoxification is by supplying sulfur (especially when you add veggies, garlic and herbs to your broth) and glutathione, which is a phase II detoxification agent that lowers oxidative stress. Stanford University’s Medicine Preventative Research Center has found that glutathione helps with elimination of fat-soluble compounds, especially heavy metals like mercury and lead. It also helps with the absorption of various nutrients, the use of antioxidants and with liver-cleansing functions. (9) Bone broth also increases intake of essential minerals, which act like chelators to remove toxins by stopping heavy metals from attaching to mineral receptor sites.

6. Aids the Metabolism and Promotes Anabolism

Bone broth is a great way to obtain more glutathione, which studies show plays important roles in antioxidant defense, nutrient metabolism and regulation of cellular events. A 2004 study published in the Journal of Nutrition states that glutathione’s roles and benefits include regulating gene expressions, DNA and protein synthesis, cell proliferation and apoptosis, signal transduction, cytokine production, and immune responses. (10)

Amino acids found in bone broth have numerous metabolic roles, including building and repairing muscle tissue, supporting bone mineral density, boosting nutrient absorption and synthesis, and maintaining muscle and connective tissue health. Glycine found within collagen helps form muscle tissue by converting glucose into useable energy, plus it slows cartilage, tissue and muscle loss associated with aging by improving the body’s use of antioxidants. Studies have revealed that glycine protects skeletal muscle loss and stops the expression of genes associated with age-related muscle protein breakdown. (11)

Glutamine is another amino acid that’s important for a healthy metabolism, since it helps us maintain energy by sending nutrients, including nitrogen, to our cells. Arginine also has the role of breaking down nitric oxide that helps improve circulation and sends blood and nutrients to cells throughout the body, improving muscle and tissue integrity and promoting normal wound healing.

Bone Broth Benefits….

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

I have found bone broth to be the No. 1 thing you can consume to:

  • Treat leaky gut syndrome
  • Overcome food intolerances and allergies
  • Improve joint health
  • Reduce cellulite
  • Boost immune system

Chicken soup isn’t just good for the soul: There’s a reason that it’s prescribed by doctors and mothers alike when you’re feeling under the weather. All bone broths — beef, chicken, fish, lamb and more — are staples in the traditional diets of every culture and the basis of all fine cuisine. That’s because bone broths are nutrient-dense, easy to digest, rich in flavor and they boost healing.

Bone broth or stock was a way our ancestors made use of every part of an animal. Bones and marrow, skin and feet, tendons and ligaments that you can’t eat directly can be boiled and then simmered over a period of days. This simmering causes the bones and ligaments to release healing compounds like collagen, proline, glycine and glutamine that have the power to transform your health.

Nutrition researchers Sally Fallon and Kaayla Daniel of the Weston A. Price Foundation explain that bone broths contain minerals in forms that your body can easily absorb: calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulphur and others. They contain chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine, the compounds sold as pricey supplements to reduce inflammation, arthritis and joint pain.

A study of chicken soup (broth) conducted by the University of Nebraska Medical Center wondered what it was in the soup that made it so beneficial for colds and flu. Researchers found that the amino acids that were produced when making chicken stock reduced inflammation in the respiratory system and improved digestion. Also, research is proving it can also boost the immune system and heal disorders like allergies, asthma and arthritis.

Bone broth…

Bone broth.

In this never ending challenge I face daily, my options are give in and succumb to a horrible disease or do what anyone with a desire to live would do and that is to always believe the answer to living or not is out there waiting to be found. Obviously there are several things I’m currently doing that is helping. I’m preventing myself from getting worse as quickly as I could be. I’ve talked about my daily supplement intake from Youngevity that providing all the nutrition I need. The Active Stem is encouraging the production and release of my body’s own stem cells, there is a very good chance that this will make a huge dent in what looks like a nigh on unbeatable problem.

So my never ending search has brought me to learn more about organic bone broth , I could spend the next 1000 words on describing the proven benefits but I won’t, I’ll save that for another day, but from what I’ve read there’s a good chance this will help, it arrived this morning so I’m starting today.

Same attitude…

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Same attitude.

Firstly, it was a great day, why? Well even though something bad happened at the end of my day, I know what caused it, so that’s good and unlike previous similar occurrences this time I was able to get to bed without hurting myself, so that’s a real positive.

As I’ve said before I get most of the required nutrition from specialized supplements. Because the majority of foods these days have very little true nutrition in them due to the crap spread on them in traditional farming techniques. Unless the foods are organically grown and have no synthetic additives then I try my best to stay away from them. I was a little peckish about 6pm as I’d only had a yummy bowl of soup made by my fantastic sister Suzie. So I had a quick single pot of Momma’s porridge, the label showed nothing bad, all natural ingredients. Sadly an hour after I had become frighteningly weak, I could stand but wall and furniture walking wasn’t possible. The good thing was by crawling very awkwardly and slowly I was able to get to bed. Yes it was a crappy experience but as I said, I know what it was and I didn’t get hurt so all good and I’ll maintain the same positive attitude.

Oop’s….

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Oops.

I say oops because I realise I’ve been making a mistake and I’ve been doing it for years, today it’s as if I’ve been in a pitch black room and the light has just been turned on, how could I have been so naive. The answer has been there in front of me as clear as a bell but I simply couldn’t see, didn’t understand because the answer is so simple.

What am I talking about? I’m sure that just about everyone in the Western world has heard about “The law of attraction”, well I realised today that I’ve not been helping myself. Yes there obviously has been some positives in my attempts but I feel all my positives have almost certainly been negated by my own naive actions. All the positive and optimistic actions and beliefs can only do so much. As I’ve said many times, it’s not about saying, it’s about believing and genuinely feeling what is said. I’ve done this in the main but by writing my blog which also goes out on Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Pinterest and Linkedin, I’m expressing and feeling of what was, not of what I intend it to be. By doing this I’m sending out messages to the Universe which only complies with my feelings. There’s no understanding it’s bad, the Universe only has one answer and that is Yes… I voice my feelings about my health or in my case the lack of health and I just get more of what I don’t want because that is what’s on my mind. So from now on there’s no more of “things are bad but do whatever you want, I’ll beat you, now it’s only talk of good and positive.

Liverpool lad…

Liverpool lad.

As a kid in a city renown for its humour it was absolutely normal for a bunch of mates to be all having a laugh and sometimes at the expense of one of the gang simply because he wasn’t  quick enough to come back with a suitable response to the jibe. I think being brought up in a very competitive environment, my mates, school and even more so my family was a good thing. As one of seven in a little two bedroom house constantly having to fight for what was mine definitely helped in life. Now please don’t misunderstand me, my mates were my mates, we played hard because that’s what you did in Liverpool in the 50’s and 60’s, school wasn’t the same then as it is now, it was tough and no nonsense or answering back, a “clip round the lughole” was an everyday occurrence, the cane whupping your backside normally happened a couple of times each term. As one of 5 boys and having 2 sisters, there was always a racket going on, lots of wrestling and rough and tumble happening, but it was good. My point is that having this history ingrained in me, a desire to fight back, I could never be someone that just accepted and gave in when things weren’t right. That’s why I will always fight for what’s mine, and what’s mine is “my life”….something is trying it’s best to take “my life” away… it’s not going to happen, “it’s mine so sod off..

Belief…

Belief..

In my mind there is no doubt that the situation I find myself in will change for the better, I’m living what  is probably considered to be a very limited, restricted life. I’m not perfectly healthy, a joke…. my condition is quite bad in comparison to most others, but only as restricted as my mind lets it be. At this time I live on disability benefits which allows me to exist but obviously it’s not a massive amount of money. Notice I’m not saying any specifics because I refuse to believe, to allow these conditions to dictate my future, there is definitely a period of my life that is yet to be experienced, but it’s going to be. There is no positive future if I simply accept what on the surface appears to be true, that is what my “conscious” mind sees, not what my “subconscious” mind believes. Imagination and Inspiration are two of the aspects of the subconscious, there is a third aspect that can and will come into effect but requires one thing from me and that’s total belief. When you “live” this way, when the confidence of beleiving that you know these things, the power of “Auto suggestion” becomes your absolute belief then your subconscious mind will find a way to make it happen. I see a very different life for me than that of the one I’m living now, I will…..I am… I believe 100% that I am healthy and wealthy.

Update….

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Update.

As I’m sure everyone reading my posts understands, my number one priority is my health and my daily challenge to restore it. Over the years I’ve tried and tested a lot of supplements, I don’t take anything because it tastes good or because of some supposedly anecdotal evidence. I try various supplements because of my own research, anything that could possibly have a positive effect on my health isn’t going to show after a day or week or month necessarily so providing its not making me feel worse over a few days I’ll give it a reasonable try of three months. So the main supplements, the Mighty90 from Youngevity has been my staple for about seven months, there’s no doubt that this has made a subtle but very positive change in my everyday existence. I also take a teaspoon of organic coconut oil and flaxseed oil capsules which have been very positive. I wrote about Active Stem, a powder that stimulates the growth and release of stem cells, it was  developed and has been successfully used by Dr Rand McCain in Los Angeles on patients with a wide variety of illness. I’ve been taking it for two weeks so far and I’m trying to temper my excitement because it’s only been two weeks and I need to not get too excited in case the improvements are temporary. Others might not be able to immediately notice several of what might seem tiny changes but “live in my body” before you make assumptions, this is a great feeling.

Purpose…

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Purpose

In 2007 there was a major shift in my life, at the time I didn’t really see or truly understand the significance of what was happening to me, all I knew at that specific time was that I’d just landed a brilliant job. My position as the Client Service Director with Huggins Applied Healing was definitely a significant step in my new life in America but truly understanding the importance it would have on me and potentially thousands of others hadn’t sunk in yet. Dr Hal Huggins was an incredible man who perpetuated and furthered the work of Dr Weston A Price a pioneer in the field of dentistry and natural healing. I am so proud, honoured and humbled to have been associated with this man and his groundbreaking research. I read every book written by Dr Huggins and tried my best to understand the complexity of his work in body chemistry re-balancing. Back to my point, because Dr Huggins himself had MS and had learned how to minimise the symptoms through nutrition and supplementation I wanted to do the same for myself.

I’m sure some people will think this a ridiculous thing to do and I should simply accept what the medical profession have done and that is to believe there is no cure. Well that’s never going to happen and the fact that I’m still here, looking good (in my bathroom mirror) is testimony to my methods.

Yes I want and believe I will become healthy again and it will make me very happy when that happens. I honestly believe that solving my particular health problem will not only help me but also make a huge difference to many others, this will be a blessing and has given me a purpose.
