Down escalator…

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

I’ve always been a “glass half full” type of person, I honestly believe in being optimistic and that attitude will always be the best. Earlier on in my life I thought that being realistic and keeping a plan B was better than ignoring what was obviously a strong possibility. But as I said, over the past twenty-ish years I think always seeing the positive and optimistic side has appealed to me more, so that’s who I am.

I think that my attitude, my always optimistic view probably frustrates others, I mean it’s obvious that I’m no better and probably worse than when I returned to England four years ago. But I don’t see it in a negative way, the neurologist that diagnosed me with MS in 04 told me that if I didn’t take the MS drugs, which I never have then I’d be in a wheelchair permanently within six months. I’m not in a wheelchair and apart from an hour a day at lunchtime I look after myself.

The disease is considered by the world’s medical experts to be incurable, I haven’t beaten it yet but I believe I will. At this time I’m fighting what appears to be a never ending battle, I’m on a freaking down escalator trying to walk up.

I wonder…

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Since I started this blog almost four years ago the site has had almost 2 million hits,  this has been from close to 200,000 unique visitors meaning each visitor has looked at roughly ten posts. Not bad really, of those visitors I wonder if some are actually sick in one way or another and are looking for potential answers or inspiration. Presumably some are just interested to read, and obviously some are just there to post backlinks to their own or another site to generate hits.

Whatever!! Anyway for those genuinely looking for possible answers or just interested in  me, swoon, what do you know about acidity and alkalinity in the body. Presumably you’ve all heard of the body PH and its balance. Yes! No ! Well PH  is referring to Potential for Hydrogen, this can vary from totally acidic at 1.0 to to alkaline at 14.0. The ideal is to be slightly alkaline at 7.35 to 7.45. About 9 years ago I read an amazing book by a doctor who went to great lengths to prove disease cannot live in an alkaline environment. Diseased cells cannot survive period and that’s referring to all disease. Now it’s not simply as easy becoming disease free by consuming only alkaline foods, no, that wouldn’t work, there are many minerals and vitamins and nutrients that need to be absorbed and metabolized as well. There are numerous lists to be found on the internet, some good and others not so, but it’s well worth looking and trying to get to a 60/40 split with alkaline foods being 60%.. From previous study I seem to recall a 80/20 split to aid recovery such as in my case and that’s my goal, I need to make a more detailed list of foods that can help or hinder specifically for me.

Please don’t look at this as if I think I know everything because I know I don’t but I do know a little more about the subject of how the human body works so there is what I perceive as useful information that I want to share.

If you like/enjoy or not I’d like to know, my email is at the end of this and every post so please let me know what you think, take care.

Working perfectly….

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

No I’m not referring to my boiler although it is working properly again, really happy about that. No, I’m referring to the place you live in 24/7 and no matter what you do or where you go, you, that little voice talking in your mind lives, yes it’s the thing you put clothes on everyday, you.

In my case I’m referring to me, why doesn’t it work perfectly well ?, primarily it’s because I have a disease that’s considered to be incurable and there’s that inescapable fact that I’m not young anymore. Notice I said not young because I’ve been here for 61 years and still looking good, I really can’t imagine me referring to myself as old, nah, never.

This reference to me gives others an inkling into how I think of myself, some might say I’m narcissistic or vain, but I just value me and try not to abuse the physical thing my chatty voice lives in. Does that sound weird or strange to you? Over the years I’ve been very interested in health, not just from when I worked for Dr Huggins in Colorado although it’s definitely been accentuated since then, for most of my adult life, nutrition has been interesting to me. I never smoked or indulged in drugs, yes I did drink alcohol but vary rarely to excess.

The human body is essentially designed to be perfect, to function in a way that everything, the organs, the cells and enzymes do the job they were designed to do like a well oiled piece of German engineering.

Sadly, what happens is that the nutrition, (oil, fuel and lubricants) are not provided in the quality and quantities needed. So just like the top of the range Mercedes it rusts and clunks and breaks down, it has to go in for repairs and servicing or to see the doctor and hospital in our case.

At the end of the day the human body is a million times more complex than a car or motorbike or computer, so why oh why do we not treat it and look after it as well as a beautiful and really expensive car?

If from day one, we only put good quality nutrients in our body and not the synthetic genetically modified crap so many people live on, then we’d find that this thing wrapped around the chatty voice would still be in good condition, the hair wouldn’t have fallen out or lost its natural colour, the joints wouldn’t creak or ache so much and we wouldn’t have quite as much luggage to haul around. It all boils down to this, if we put crap in then sadly the the millions, no, billions and trillions of cells will not do the job they were designed to do and the body will Not be working perfectly.

So far, so good…

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

So far, so good.

The boiler guy came again this morning to hopefully get it working and allow me to not feel like an icicle in the morning. He worked on it for an hour and got the heating back, then he explained that the thermostat wouldn’t be any use so I’d have to turn the heating on and off during the day. Oh well, better than not working at all, he said he should have the replacement part in a couple of days so the faffing about would only be for a day or two, no big deal. Anyway he left so I got on with getting my supplements for the day when all of a sudden he comes back. At first I was shocked when the front door opened and he came back in announcing he’d luckily seen one of his co-workers who just happened to have the part I need. So he came back and fitted it so now it appears to be working normally again, so far, so good.

Not quite..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Well after four days of no boiler, no hot water and no heat I was excited or pleased at least that it was going to be rectified this morning. So I did my thing of getting up at 7.30 to turn the oven on leaving the door slightly open and starting the tiny portable heater the plumber had left which definitely took the damp chill out the flat. Brushing my teeth and washing in freezing water wasn’t nice but hey, I’ve had worse so no big deal.

I received a text from the boiler people telling me he’d be here about 9.0, traffic prevailing. So I did all I needed to do and waited his arrival. 9.10 and he was here, great, or so I thought until he said that there was only 56 volts of power getting to the boiler and not the 240 it needed. So after a couple of phone calls to the necessary people it was agreed by them, not me, to not do any work until the electrician fixed the supply. An hour after he left the electrician came and did some more testing then announced that there was 240 volts and the boiler guy had checked in the wrong place.

So now the boiler guy is coming back tomorrow morning and fingers crossed will get it sorted, so this means another day of oven warming and a cold wash in the a.m.

It’s lucky I’m a hardened scouser, you “southern Shandy swinging softies” would have no chance…. lol, just kidding.

Coping..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Since Thursday morning with my boiler breaking and water soaking the carpet it’s been a little difficult as I’m sure you can understand. At 7.30 am I shuffle, limp and stagger into the kitchen first? To turn the oven on and leave the door slightly open to get a little warmth into the chilly flat. The normal morning routine has obviously been made more difficult and tiring but at the end of the day I’m lucky this problem happened before the Christmas holidays when it would have been so much worse for me.

I’m flipping cold in the morning and the whole thing is making my life even more difficult than it already was but I’m dealing with it, it’s a pain in the butt… but I get a new boiler on Monday so this situation is temporary, “no big deal, I’m coping”.

Autonomic nervous system..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

A couple of days ago I talked openly about the things I do daily that I firmly believe are playing a significant part in keeping me in a hopeful state for a future that’s worth living and not just opening my eyes in the morning but looking forward to closing them at night with nothing to be grateful for between them.

The part I mentioned about meditation is what I’m going to address now. The Autonomic Nervous System in everyone’s body has various parts to play that are vital to functioning every day. I’ll not go into everything but I will talk about one specifically, that is De-generation and Re-generation of cells. If each side were equal then we’d all live forever but sadly the Degeneration is more powerful, hence ageing. The two sides responsible are the Sympathetic, degeneration and the  Parasympathetic or regeneration.

The Autonomic nervous system is strengthened when the body is in a relaxed stress free state, both sides obviously, but it’s widely considered that the calmer and stress free the mind, the better the chance of a Parasympathetic bias, how do we achieve that state? Meditation…

Meditation is conscious sleep.

Sleep is unconscious meditation

So the best way to strengthen the Parasympathetic autonomic nervous system is through meditation.

What a day!!!!..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

I woke this morning at 5.00 and could hear a strange noise like water dripping, it was raining quite strongly so thought no more about it, then I noticed  the light on the internet booster that’s plugged in was off so I checked on my phone and saw the internet was out. This didn’t particularly bother me and just presumed it would come back on at some point. I got up at 7.30 and noticed there was no electricity on. I settled down on the sofa and waited till just before 9.0 to call the management company. I let Michelle know who arranged for an electrician to call in, as the natural light came into the room I could see water pooling on the table so in slight panic I called Michelle again. After a 20 minute conversation she assured me the electrician would get the power back on and arrange for a plumber if necessary. Long story short, two electricians came, got the power back on and helped mop up the water that had soaked the carpet and arranged for an emergency plumber. Two hours later he came, did some unscrewing and re-screwing then announced all he could do was get the water back on. Michelle told me that the boiler wouldn’t be fixed or replaced until Saturday which also means no heating or no hot water till then, bummer. But I’ll survive, no big deal just an inconvenience, just had a call telling me it won’t be Saturday it’ll be Monday…oh POOH.

My adventure..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Over the years I think we all do or don’t do things or at least admit to doing or saying them because of how we think others, our family and friends will respond to knowing about it. Well I’ve been thinking about it and in reality I’m at an age, 61 that it doesn’t matter to me anymore if someone disagrees or dislikes what I’m doing. This is my life and I’ve got to do what I believe to be best for me, what is going to give me the best chance at being able to live.

While working for Dr Huggins I talked to some beautiful people that enhanced my life in ways they’ll probably never truly know. Topping the list has to be Dottie and Ali on opposite sides of the country geographically. Kristina, Carroll, Jeffrey R  and Billie P sadly no longer with us, Felicia, Kirsten and Samantha, Chris P, and so many more, One person I honestly wish I could have done more for is an incredible lady and her husband, Linda and Bill, in Nova Scotia,  I love you both.

Anyway my point in this is what I’m doing and have done so far that has in all honesty kept me not just alive but with a genuine reason to be optimistic.

I’ve been to extremes and had a full dental revision that involved 10 ½ hours of dentistry with one of the best dentists ever, Dr Blanche Grube in Scranton, PA. I’ve had CCSVI in Bulgaria, that’s Chronic, cerebrospinal, venous insufficiency which in itself was quite traumatic. Being conscious and having a cut in the groin, then into an artery and a small camera inserted into it and threaded right along through to the heart then reversed and re threaded right up to my neck. All the time I was able to follow the progress on a really powerful doppler scanner above me, I’ve also had special Upper Cervical Chiropractic work.  On a supplemental standpoint I’ve drunk XanGo for 12 years and followed the recommendations on body chemistry re-balancing by Dr Huggins. I now use the Mighty90, a combination of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and essential fatty acids, (Dr Joel Wallach).

Everything listed above worked to a degree just not permanently.

I meditate several times each day and pray, yes I believe meditation and having faith in God is acceptable.

I have a disease that I contracted I think in 1999, officially diagnosed in 04, at that time I would consider myself to be like 99.9% of the world population and that is as an “Uninformed” person. Since 07 I would like to think of myself as a more knowledgeable and better informed man that’s enabled me to make better more informed choices.

In addition to these I’ve used many, many others that haven’t been successful but nothing I’ve done was without research, long and often boring but it needed to be done before I put this ailing body through more discomfort and pain. In 2010 and 2013 I did a Liver cleanse and again last night. Not without it’s difficulties, I didn’t sleep a wink last night and am struggling now.

But everything I’ve done before and will do in the future hasn’t been and won’t be in desperation, I live in this thing called Stefan, it’s been painful and frustrating for the last 16 years but I intend to make this adventure worthwhile.

Is it ?

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

I think we all have hopes and desires, obviously they are all going to differ in various ways and be biased towards yourself or your loved ones but I wonder if they can or ever will be achieved. I think that probably 99.9% won’t ever come to fruition and that’s sad because my desires are no more important or valuable than yours. But I honestly believe that mine will happen, I often meditate and repeat a mantra if you will, “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy”. That, when looked at is completely wrong at this time in it’s entirety. But part of it is true now, I’m not whole or perfect, but I am strong, extremely powerful in my mind and although there’s no one in my life, I am loving, harmonious and happy. I often chant, I am fabulously wealthy and perfectly healthy..now that definitely isn’t true now but it will be, of that I am 100% certain.

Looking and grasping at straws, isn’t going to improve anything, instead of looking outside for potential options, I believe (and this is purely my opinion, nothing more) that by looking inside is the way to be. I believe 100% in me, it may not be be the right way for you but then again, Is it ?
