Competitive…

Looking back on my life thus far, I think anyone including myself would say I’m competitive, in everything, be it playing a game of cards, watching or playing a sport, my business life or anything. In the last 10 or 15 years I’ve tempered that down in my social life especially in personal relationships as that probably wasn’t helpful in maintaining a healthy connection.

But I really don’t like to be beaten in anything, I accept that someone else may have done things better. Now instead of being upset by it I have tried to learn from my mistake and be better next time.

So when I was diagnosed with this hideous disease in February 2004, yes I was shocked and I’m not embarrassed to say a bit frightened. Talking to a “matter of fact straight talking” New York neurologist who told me that it was a life threatening incurable disease was scary to say the least. But as I’ve said my competitive nature forces me to not give a crap about what the experts say.. Experts… Hah.. an Ex is a Has been and a Spurt is drip under pressure.

Yes I’m sick, yes I struggle everyday, yes there are days I slip and fall and have to lay where I’ve fallen for an hour or more but….I refuse to let this thing beat me…

I’m Stefan…I’m from Liverpool, a scouser and my mum is from Berlin, am I going to give up, I’m I going to be beaten….NAH…

A small step forward…

The small subtle changes that i’ve noticed over the past week are in my eyes huge, not feeling quite as exhausted but just tired is a really nice experience. Being able to stand with only a small amount of help from my arms then negotiating my way to the loo and not desperately clinging to the door frame to stop myself from falling is great.

The changes I’ve made which are additions to the natural supplements are Vitamin D3 cream, not your average cream but cream that is at a massively higher dosage, also using a very powerful organic Oregano oil in my drinks, it tastes horrible but a small price to pay for the help it’s giving me

Nothing has ever been created or invented at the first attempt, when Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb in 1879, that was on the back of more than 70 years of research by 100’s of people and literally 1,000’s of attempts.

I say this because my efforts and trials of procedures and supplements over the last 10 years is just by me, not a team of researchers. I will persevere, I will continue and I will win… That’s not a wish or a hope….that is a FACT…

Positivity..

To continue every day doing the same thing, as in everyday is the same, I wake early often at daylight and then read or play Words with friends until I get up normally by 8.15. After 20 minutes in the bathroom I shuffle into the kitchen and get my supplements for the day. I have to drink around 4 litres of water during the day which isn’t painful but it is a pain…. It means I’m in the loo roughly every 45 minutes, if I don’t drink the water I become frighteningly weak, so weak I’m unable to raise my arm. There’s been odd days when my niece Debbie has come to my rescue, I don’t tell her everyday but I’m ever so grateful and love her so much.

The day’s tend to slip by as one melds into the next and are often only differentiated by what’s on the telly. I probably read between 30 to 40 books per year, 3 or 4 hours zip by while engrossed in a murder mystery novel on my Kindle.

The point I want to make is my day’s/week’s/month’s and year’s since I’ve been back in England have flown by but I’m not unhappy or bored or depressed. I see every day as a blessing, I’m alive, this disease hasn’t and will not beat me. When I was officially diagnosed in Feb 04 the neurologist told me I’d be in a wheelchair in 6 months if I didn’t take the MS medication… I didn’t and never have and apart from the odd trip out I don’t need a wheelchair.

I honestly believe I will cure myself through nutrition and my positive mindset….
