My struggle…

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Trying to describe how things are for me physically is difficult to do because unless you are personally experiencing this I think you can’t have any perception of this but something’s have changed in my life so I’m going to try and give you an idea.

If you can imagine yourself at the healthiest and strongest and fittest you’ve ever been, now that may have been when you were in your early 20’s or whenever was best for you. Now put that as 100% of your best ever. OK now if you’ve had a really bad cold or the flu physically and mentally you’ve dropped to 75% so you ache and feel weak physically but mentally you know that you’ll get through this in a week or two so it’s a pain but you know it’s temporary.

Now let’s also add a 50 kg rucksack that you have to wear all the time you are awake, yeuk..

You also have to wear really thick gloves so you have very little feeling in your hands resulting in a numbness and poor coordination..

The gloves have weighted fingers as well making it very awkward to do the simplest of things, the left one is thicker and heavier than the right so you tend to use the left less and less.

Now imagine those ankle weights that can be velcroed on, the right ankle gets a 20 kg weight but the left has a 30 kg weight on so lifting your legs just to walk is a major challenge.

Alright you get all this on while you have a bad cold so you feel extremely weak, physically and you are then told this is a forever thing and that other things are going to be added sometimes daily but this is for the rest of your life.

The 100% point I was at was reduced to 20% or less on some days which is a depressing place to be.

Now you have a vague idea of my life as it has been over the past 15 years, I don’t know if it’s because I was born in a really tough city (Liverpool) or it’s because I have an incredible mother who lived through the 2 nd world war and raised 7 kids or my time working in America, it’s probably a combination of them all.

I have used my determination, stubbornness and experience to not give in to what the world of allopathic medicine consider to be a life threatening incurable disease. I’ve researched and tried many things from many supplements to body chemistry rebalancing to bee sting therapy to ccsvi. But sadly nothing has made a significant difference until now.

I’ve been a strong believer and advocate of good nutrition, but knowing this and realistically being able to follow a plan is very difficult, not just financially but also the fact I’m on my own.

A couple of weeks back I learned about a way of possibly changing that and this is my 4th day. The improvements to me are massive, you can imagine that on the scale I talked about earlier and how low I’d become but I’ve definitely moved up a couple of places in a very short time. I’m trying to contain my enthusiasm..

My health..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Please note that these comments and observations are simply that!! I’m not complaining about anyone

I’m just stating facts… I think 99.9% of people tend to forget or ignore that the place we all individually live is the seen by others as your body… But in reality it’s where each individual lives and as such should be treated with respect and concern. Sadly this isn’t done by most people and that includes myself up to about 8 years ago when I started my new life working for an incredible man.

Since then I’ve been fortunate to have gained a better understanding of how and why the body should work and why they often don’t function correctly.

It’s so very easy to fall into bad habits when it comes to what we feed ourselves, when you experience what is perceived as hunger pangs it’s actually your body crying out for nutrition, now this is where we tend to be confused and mistakenly put things that satisfy two things. The first and often foremost is “Taste” if it tastes good then it’s good? Right!! No it’s wrong, the majority of processed food sold these days include many, many additives that can and often do harm us. Look at the list of ingredients on the label, you’ll often see ten, twenty or thirty ingredients on the label of what should be basic foods. If you are having a savoury dish why on earth should there be Sugar in it. You’ll often see this white sweet poison in abundance, when people put weight on but insist on eating foods that are “fat free” they get confused and frustrated but it’s the sugar and processed foods they should be avoiding.

Quite often you’ll see ” natural flavouring” listed, another thing to avoid, for some inexplicable reason food companies have been legally allowed to term MSG or MonoSodium Glutamate as natural. Crap!!!

MSG is an Excitotoxin that causes many problems in the body, it also crosses the “blood brain barrier causing more problems, it can be basically seen as the “more ish” factors. You eat and like it so much you just have to eat more!!! This is done by the manufacturers so you fool your body into it thinking you actually need it.

Carrageenan you’ll often see on the lists, listed near the end so there isn’t a lot in and it can’t be that important can it! Well this sneaky little additive is a “thickening agent” a bad one as well, this can cause problem that can lead to heart attack and strokes, It’s sad that the food companies pretend to have your best interests at heart by making “good wholesome foods” when in reality all they are interested in is their own profit at the expense of your health.

Secondly  the reason some people fill themselves with “junk foods” is simply to fill up. Your body tells you that you are stuffed but an hour later the mistaken feeling of hunger is back so the seemingly never ending cycle continues.

As I’ve said before, those “pangs” are not hunger pangs it’s your complex body screaming for Nutrition, something the intricate complicated human body needs to function correctly.
Anyway the point of writing this article was to say after many years or researching I think I’ve been lucky to have stumbled onto a way of improving my life. I’ll say no more just now but I will keep you informed of my progress.

My choice…

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

I firmly believe that our lives are dictated by the choices we make, each individual is faced with literally thousands of choices to make every day. The majority are “just done” as they are as basic as “should I get up today” or what underwear to wear today”. So they are not necessarily seen as important, but they are choices nevertheless.

I know so many choices throughout our lives are made by the simple decision of “do I like the taste”, but the foods we eat more often than not especially as we enter our adult life tend to have a little more thought especially if they contain large amounts of sugar or gluten.

When it comes to more important choices that affect our lives and well being well that’s a different matter altogether.

I’m a strong believer in “positivity”, I am subconsciously affected by negativity. I seem to have no choice in the matter when faced with stressful or overwhelming situations so I make an effort to not allow negativity in my life. Some people think of themselves as “realists” but to me it’s just pessimism so I have no time for that.

As each day presents a more strenuous challenge for me as is the case for everyone inflicted by a life threatening disease. My choice is to be optimistic, my choice is to attempt to get a better life and not just sulk and be full of “woe is me, or things can only get worse”.

I have made the choice to not accept the depressing option of “this is is “as good as it gets”. No, my choice is that I will be healthy again and I will lead an active life.

Ginger or Chemo..?

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Ginger naturally contains a compound that is up to 10,000 times more effective than chemotherapy drugs at killing the cancer stem cells that make malignant tumors so dangerous, according to a study published in the journal PLoS.

The chemical, known as 6-shogaol, is produced when ginger roots are dried or cooked. The researchers found that 6-shogaol is active against cancer stem cells at concentrations that are harmless to healthy cells. This is dramatically different from conventional chemotherapy, which has serious side effects largely because it kills healthy as well as cancerous cells.

Cells responsible for 90 percent of cancer death?

Like other stem cells, cancer stem cells possess the ability to differentiate into various different cell types. In the case of cancer, stem cells differentiate into the various malignant cells that make up a tumor colony. Although they make up less than 1 percent of the cells in any given tumor, stem cells are impervious to nearly all known or experimental chemotherapy agents. These cells are also able to replicate indefinitely, and they are capable of splitting off from their originating colony to start new tumors elsewhere. They are key players in the process of metastasis, which is responsible for 90 percent of cancer-related deaths.

The persistence of cancer stem cells also explains why cancers can recur even after seemingly successful tumor eradication via chemotherapy, radiation or surgery.

“Cancer stem cells pose serious obstacle to cancer therapy as they can be responsible for poor prognosis and tumour relapse,” the researchers wrote. “To add into the misery, very few chemotherapeutic compounds show promise to kill these cells.”

Kills cancer cells on many fronts

The researchers found that 6-shogaol targets breast cancer stem cells along several different pathways, including reducing the expression of surface markers, altering the cell cycle to increase the rate of cell death, inhibiting tumor formation, directly inducing programmed cell death, and flat-out poisoning cancer stem cells (cytotoxicity).

The researchers then compared the cytotoxicity of 6-shogaol against human breast cancer stem cells with that of the widely used chemotherapy drug taxol. They found that while taxol did show cytotoxicity in a one-dimensional laboratory model of cancer (“monolayer”), it showed almost no effect in the three-dimensional (“spheroid”) model that is now believed to be a more accurate model of real-world cancer tumors. 6-shogaol, however, was effective in both the monolayer and spheroid models.

The researchers then increased the taxol concentration by 10,000 times, but it still showed no effectiveness in spheroid model.

“[T]axol, even though was highly active in monolayer cells, did not show activity against the spheroids even at 10,000 fold higher concentration compared to 6-shogaol,” the researchers wrote.

The promise of food-based cures

The fact that 6-shogaol naturally occurs in a widely consumed human food is promising for its safety profile, the researchers noted.

“Dietary compounds are welcome options for human diseases due to their time-tested acceptability by human bodies,” they wrote.

Another food-based chemical that has shown promise against cancer stem cells is phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC). This chemical is produced from the reaction of a compound and an enzyme that occur in cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cabbage. This reaction actually takes place simply when the vegetables are chewed, which means that eating cruciferous vegetables causes the human body to be exposed to PEITC.

According to a May 2015 press release by researchers from the South Dakota State University Department of Health and Nutritional Sciences, PEITC has been successful at killing cervical cancer stem cells. The concentrations used in the study are actually achievable simply from a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables, the researchers said. The vegetables highest in PEITC potential are watercress and land cress.

This research suggests that PEITC, and possibly even a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables, could assist in the prevention of or recovery from cancer.

Lemon and Baking soda..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Over the past 8 years I’ve tried many combinations of natural foods as a way of clearing health problems, Lemon and Baking soda are two things I use daily.

This article on the use of both in combination is quite amazing.

The combination of lemon and baking soda has 10 000 times more stronger effect than chemotherapy!

Why was this fact kept as a secret?

Being totally aware of the powerful properties lemon provides is completely opposite to the interest some world organisations have. For that reason, we recommend you share this article and help a friend who needs it!

Do you have any idea of the recent number of deaths because this secret was jealously kept in order to protect large corporations?

Numerous studies have proven the anti-cancer properties of lemon. Lemon also provides other benefits, including its strong power in treating cyst and tumors.

Lemons have the power to cure cancer, since it has been tested on all cancer types. Adding baking soda makes it even more powerful, because baking soda brings pH to normal level.

Lemon also has potent antimicrobial effect in treating bacterial and fungal infections. It is effective in the fight against internal parasites and it regulates blood pressure. Lemon is beneficial for the nervous system as well – it is a powerful antidepressant, reducing stress and calming nerve crises.

One of the largest drug manufacturers claims that 20 laboratory experiments, conducted since 1970 until recently, proved that:

Lemon destroys cancer cells in 12 cancer types. It prevents metastasis of cancer cells and it is 10 000 stronger than drugs like Adriamycin, chemotherapy and narcotic products.

What is more interesting is the fact that the combination of lemon extract and baking soda destroys cancer cells only, without harming healthy cells and tissues.

It will happen..

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health

Of late a couple of things have happened that has made me feel a sense of longing, it might seem like a strange thing to say but it’s true.

I get the feeling that some people, not just anyone but people I truly thought believed in me have given me the impression that they have given up on me ever being healthy again and even worse, thinking that my time here on earth is nearly over.

Well that’s not happening, not just yet anyway, of course I have no control over “acts of God” or getting run over by a car but in reality that’s not likely to happen.

It’s taken a great deal of determination to stand tall in the face of hell, but it is challenging to say the least, in fact it’s been damn hard and quite frankly a little depressing at times but I continue to refuse to be beaten.

The sense of longing takes over when I’m not reading or watching a movie or when I’m just not occupied and my mind wanders and drifts through the many beautiful memories filed in this head of mine.

Of course there are the fantastic times I had skydiving at Sibson or Langar or Z-Hills with so many friends. People that put their life in my hands and mine theirs while attempting to complete a specific set of maneuvers while falling at 120+ miles an hour.

Hang gliding, SCUBA diving, mountain biking, rock climbing and flying a small cessna.

But as I’ve coped with this disease it’s also robbed me of the companionship, the tenderness and intimacy of being with a loving woman or any woman for that matter.

The normal things that most of you take for granted just don’t happen for me, holding a womans hand or feeling a tender kiss are just distant memories for me. But, I don’t want your sympathy, I don’t want a tilting head and a sad smile or a “never mind”.

What I do want is a “be strong Stef” and a “you will do it” or “if anyone can, it’s you”.

The day is coming when I post a pic of me doing one of the things listed above..
